After a two-year pause due to the COVID restrictions, he has returned to the high-performance sport.

The start was rather successful – 1^st place in his weight class, with the total result of 760 kg in all disciplines.

In the all-around evaluation for all weight classes, Edgars Ratnieks has won the high 3^rd place. We congratulate Edgars and wish him further success in his career

Currently, the Riga Volleyball School employs 22 vocational guidance coaches and 3 hobby coaches who train 639 students. Trainings for girls and boys take place in different districts of Riga. All students regularly participate in competitions of various levels both in Latvia and abroad.

The RVS / LU team is made up of the most talented students of all coaches, creating a team of Riga Volleyball School. 2020. In September 2020, cooperation with the University of Latvia was concluded, therefore the most talented players of the LU team joined the team. A couple of years ago, the team started from the very bottom – participated in the league of volleyball enthusiasts. Every year, performance improved and new, more ambitious goals were set. In the season 2019/2020, In recent years, the team has won the Latvian Volleyball Championship and the Latvian Volleyball Cup, as well as won volleyball competitions in the Baltic States.

Riga Volleyball School has been repeatedly recognized as the best sports school in Latvia implementing a volleyball program in competitions organized by the Latvian Volleyball Federation, and several coaches have been recognized as the best coaches for both boys and girls and the best young coaches. The head coach of the team is Andrejs Odinokovs, and his assistant is Pavels Selivanovs. Andrejs is a relatively young coach, with great enthusiasm, a desire to learn everything new and pass it on to the team, and Pavels is a volleyball legend, he, as a player, has won all the world’s top trophies – Olympic champion, world champion and European champion.

At the end of the training camp, friendly matches were held with the Estonian team – Audentas SG. It is a team that unites all young and talented Estonian volleyball players who live and train together every day – in a sports boarding school. The volleyball team RVS/LU won in both final games (on Saturday – 3: 1, on Sunday -3: 2).

We sincerely congratulate the team on the victory and wish them continued success in the new season!

Riga Volleyball School was founded in 1971. . Currently, the school employs 22 coaches who train both beach and classic volleyball. Classes take place in all districts of Riga, where more than 500 students learn volleyball skills.

Every year, performance improved and new, more ambitious goals were set. In the season 2019/2020, 2019./2020. the team won the Latvian Volleyball Championship, the Latvian Volleyball Cup, and won the Baltic Volleyball League. All this success was won despite the fact that most of the team had not yet reached the age of 18. Both last season and this season, RVS / LU was the only Latvian team (both women’s and men’s) to start in the prestigious CEV Challenge Cup in volleyball.

The head coach of the team is Andrejs Odinokovs, but the assistant coach is Paveļs Selivanovs.

We were honored to be invited to participate in the opening event of the Arena of the Olympic Center Rezekne, which took place on September 19 , 2020.

The event began with solemn speeches when the audience was greeted by the Chairman of Rezekne City Council Aleksandrs Bartaševičs, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia Ilga Šuplinska, the President of the Latvian Olympic Committee Žoržs Tikmers and others.

The Olympic Center Rezekne provides every visitor an opportunity to focus on a healthy lifestyle and creates a platform where to improve, usefully spend free time and relax.

The main building of the newly opened multifunctional gym consists of a hall with grandstands (620 seats), as well as an ice arena with grandstands (529 seats).

We wish the Olympic Centre not to stop at what has been achieved and to continue to develop, so that new projects, great achievements and unforgettable events are ahead!

Edgars thanks the management of the company for moral and material support that enables him to develop, get stronger and to represent our country and company in different competitions, including international ones. We are very happy for Edgar’s achievements and wish him never stop on his way to success!

We wish Edgars the quick recovery and improvement of the high results!

Among all the weight categories Edgars Ratnieks won the high 3rd place with the following results: deadlift – 320 kg and bench press – 220 kg!

Edgars admits, “The competition was very strong, many sportsmen from different countries participated. I won 4 medals in total. I try to represent the country and the company I work in with honor. I want to express a lot of gratitude to the Chairman of the Board Roman Vdovychenko for the support and opportunity to improve myself and reach my goals!”

During Piņķi’18 the three core activities of any EYP session were performed:

Team Building, which is an important component of the conference and determines how well the participants will be able to cooperate with each other. Due to the relatively short length of the session and the fact that the participants do not know each other, it is important that they get to know each other as soon as possible to be able to discuss the assigned problem and find creative solutions.

Committee Work which was the part of the conference where participants try to understand the details of the assigned problem and create potential solutions. This was a rigorous work and requires participation of each and every team member. Prior to coming to the conference all participants were highly advised to do some research of the problem which was developed during the Committee Work. This is one of the main tasks of the Committee Work as well as discussions and evaluation of the proposed solutions.

And lastly the Genral Assembly during which committees had a chance to present their resolutions and answer the questions proposed by the members of other committees. This gave the chance for all participants to get a brief insight in all problems and critically evaluate other people’s work.

But Piņķi’18 also had amazing evening events such as TechTalks. The event gave the participants a possibility to talk about the future of an innovative Europe and to develop their network with the experts of the field of IT.
