In February 2025, the auditing company Preferred by Nature conducted a third-party re-certification assessment in accordance with Version 2 of the SBP Standards, which fully replaces Version 1 of the SBP Standards.
With the introduction of the new SBP standards, the company is further investing in and continuously integrating compliance with environmental and quality management systems.
In May of this year, NewFuels RSEZ SIA received a renewed SBP certificate in accordance with SBP Standard Version 2 (Certificate version number: 26-05-2025 (04)).
The company continues its efforts to mitigate risks under the SBP program. Furthermore, as of May this year, the system has been upgraded to support the transition from the European Biomass Regulation RED II system to compliance with RED III requirements, ensuring the procurement of sustainable biomass at the pellet production facility in Rēzekne.
The company is improving compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) in the procurement process by collecting detailed information on the origin of wood. Since February of this year, in accordance with the EUDR, it has been conducting wood origin risk assessments, origin audits, and compiling and registering origin data. Detailed information on the origin of biomass is provided to buyers to ensure traceability and compliance with EUDR requirements.
