On April 20-22, 2023, Edgars Ratnieks, an operator at the cogeneration plant “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA, took part in the Lithuanian Powerlifting Championship (power triathlon).

After a two-year pause due to the COVID restrictions, he has returned to the high-performance sport.

The start was rather successful – 1^st place in his weight class, with the total result of 760 kg in all disciplines.

In the all-around evaluation for all weight classes, Edgars Ratnieks has won the high 3^rd place. We congratulate Edgars and wish him further success in his career

This year, from August 5 – 7, the Rēzekne city festival was organized, within the framework of which the traditional festive procession of organizations and institutions “Invites Rēzekne” took place. “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA participated in the march this year in the joint team of Rezekne Special Economic Zone, which was created in honor of the 25th anniversary of RSEZ. It is nice that the number of employees of our companies was also increased by their families. Nice to be together and see you next year!

“NewFuels” RSEZ SIAis always glad to support new talents, therefore at the end of summer we considered it an honor to participate in organizing the training camp of the women’s volleyball team of the Riga Volleyball School/Women’s Volleyball Team of the University of Latvia (RVS/LU).

The RHS/LU team already at the beginning of August began preparations for the new season, having established a base in Riga, but last week, from 23 to 29 August, they held a training camp at the sports base of the Olympic Center in Rezekne (OCR), honing their technical skills. This was the final stage of the team’s preparation for the new volleyball season, which is planned to begin with participation in the highest-level competitions in Latvia, as well as in the Baltic Volleyball League and the European Volleyball Confederation Cup.

Currently, the Riga Volleyball School employs 22 vocational guidance coaches and 3 hobby coaches who train 639 students. Trainings for girls and boys take place in different districts of Riga. All students regularly participate in competitions of various levels both in Latvia and abroad.

The RVS / LU team is made up of the most talented students of all coaches, creating a team of Riga Volleyball School. 2020. In September 2020, cooperation with the University of Latvia was concluded, therefore the most talented players of the LU team joined the team. A couple of years ago, the team started from the very bottom – participated in the league of volleyball enthusiasts. Every year, performance improved and new, more ambitious goals were set. In the season 2019/2020, In recent years, the team has won the Latvian Volleyball Championship and the Latvian Volleyball Cup, as well as won volleyball competitions in the Baltic States.

Riga Volleyball School has been repeatedly recognized as the best sports school in Latvia implementing a volleyball program in competitions organized by the Latvian Volleyball Federation, and several coaches have been recognized as the best coaches for both boys and girls and the best young coaches. The head coach of the team is Andrejs Odinokovs, and his assistant is Pavels Selivanovs. Andrejs is a relatively young coach, with great enthusiasm, a desire to learn everything new and pass it on to the team, and Pavels is a volleyball legend, he, as a player, has won all the world’s top trophies – Olympic champion, world champion and European champion.

At the end of the training camp, friendly matches were held with the Estonian team – Audentas SG. It is a team that unites all young and talented Estonian volleyball players who live and train together every day – in a sports boarding school. The volleyball team RVS/LU won in both final games (on Saturday – 3: 1, on Sunday -3: 2).

We sincerely congratulate the team on the victory and wish them continued success in the new season!

We are really happy and pleased to have the opportunity to support new volleyball talents from the RVS / LU team of the Riga Volleyball School this year.

Riga Volleyball School was founded in 1971. . Currently, the school employs 22 coaches who train both beach and classic volleyball. Classes take place in all districts of Riga, where more than 500 students learn volleyball skills.

In the season 2019/2020, 2019./2020. the team won the Latvian Volleyball Championship, the Latvian Volleyball Cup, and won the Baltic Volleyball League. All this success was won despite the fact that most of the team had not yet reached the age of 18. Both last season and this season, RVS / LU was the only Latvian team (both women’s and men’s) to start in the prestigious CEV Challenge Cup in volleyball.

The head coach of the team is Andrejs Odinokovs, but the assistant coach is Paveļs Selivanovs.

We wish the team good luck, more and more achievements and victories!

We agree with the saying “a healthy spirit in a healthy body” and believe that physical activities have a positive effect on people’s overall health and quality of life, therefore we are most happy to support the opening of the multifunctional hall of the Olympic Center Rezekne.

We were honored to be invited to participate in the opening event of the Arena of the Olympic Center Rezekne, which took place on September 19 , 2020.

The event began with solemn speeches when the audience was greeted by the Chairman of Rezekne City Council Aleksandrs Bartaševičs, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia Ilga Šuplinska, the President of the Latvian Olympic Committee Žoržs Tikmers and others.

The Olympic Center Rezekne provides every visitor an opportunity to focus on a healthy lifestyle and creates a platform where to improve, usefully spend free time and relax.

The main building of the newly opened multifunctional gym consists of a hall with grandstands (620 seats), as well as an ice arena with grandstands (529 seats).

We wish the Olympic Centre not to stop at what has been achieved and to continue to develop, so that new projects, great achievements and unforgettable events are ahead!

On 29. – 30. August “DavaiGribi”, the united team of “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA participated in boating on Dubna river. The team of 8 people covered the distance of 32 km! This event brought the already friendly team even closer together, strengthened the spirit and improved the mood of each participant. We thank the management of the companies for their support and hope that similar events will become a good tradition in the future!

23.08.2020. 23.08.2020 weightlifting competition “Name day of Spriditis” took place in the Nature park in Tervete. The competition included two disciplines – deadlift and bench press. Weightlifters from all the Baltic states fought for the victory. Edgars Ratnieks, operator of “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA was among the winners; he won the 3rd absolute place in the bench press with the result 220 kg! He also reached the honourable 4th place in the deadlift after lifting 315 kg. As Edgars says, old traumas reminded of themselves therefore he couldn’t get ready for the competition as good as he wanted.

Edgars thanks the management of the company for moral and material support that enables him to develop, get stronger and to represent our country and company in different competitions, including international ones. We are very happy for Edgar’s achievements and wish him never stop on his way to success!

From 19 till 21 of October the Eastern European Powerlifting Championship took place in Saint Petersburg and Edgars Ratnieks, the operator of “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA also participated in the event. Despite the injury he won 2 golden medals with the result 215 kg at the bench press and 315 kg at the dealdift!

We wish Edgars the quick recovery and improvement of the high results!

From 04 till 07 October, 2018 Edgars Ratnieks, the operator of “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA participated in the World Championship in Powerlifting in Moscow. He participated in 3 disciplines in the weight category 110 kg: Power double-event, bench press and deadlift.

Among all the weight categories Edgars Ratnieks won the high 3rd place with the following results: deadlift – 320 kg and bench press – 220 kg!

Edgars admits, “The competition was very strong, many sportsmen from different countries participated. I won 4 medals in total. I try to represent the country and the company I work in with honor. I want to express a lot of gratitude to the Chairman of the Board Roman Vdovychenko for the support and opportunity to improve myself and reach my goals!”

By the financial support of “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA the 29th Regional session Piņķi’18 of EYP Latvia was held in July, 2018. More than 130 young adults from over 15 different countries making this one of the most international session of EYP Latvia this year.

During Piņķi’18 the three core activities of any EYP session were performed:

Team Building, which is an important component of the conference and determines how well the participants will be able to cooperate with each other. Due to the relatively short length of the session and the fact that the participants do not know each other, it is important that they get to know each other as soon as possible to be able to discuss the assigned problem and find creative solutions.

Committee Work which was the part of the conference where participants try to understand the details of the assigned problem and create potential solutions. This was a rigorous work and requires participation of each and every team member. Prior to coming to the conference all participants were highly advised to do some research of the problem which was developed during the Committee Work. This is one of the main tasks of the Committee Work as well as discussions and evaluation of the proposed solutions.

And lastly the Genral Assembly during which committees had a chance to present their resolutions and answer the questions proposed by the members of other committees. This gave the chance for all participants to get a brief insight in all problems and critically evaluate other people’s work.

But Piņķi’18 also had amazing evening events such as TechTalks. The event gave the participants a possibility to talk about the future of an innovative Europe and to develop their network with the experts of the field of IT.

Keeping on the tradition of supporting sports movement in Latvia, “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA have provided a financial support to a football event of the European level.

On Saturday, May 5, 2018, the 1st stage of European Cup in corporate football was held. Teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Russia and Belarus participated in the tournament.

We wish to thank the manager of the security company “STRONG” and the president of “Latvian Association of Corporate Sports Tournaments” Sergejs Scegolevs for the active contribution and wonderful organization.

We will be happy to participate actively in sports development and will promote it not only in the business environment but also outside of it!

From 27th to 30th April, 2018 an Open European Championship in powerlifting was held in Moscow. Edgars Ratnieks. The operator of “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA also participated in the competition among 2600 sportsmen from 19 countries. Edgars participated in the power double-event: bench press and deadlift in the weight category 110 kg. At the bench press he achieved the highest result of the competition – 217.5 kg, at the deadlift – 325 kg. Unfortunately due to the leg injury the sportsman could not lift the weight of 335 kg therefore Edgars won the 2nd place with the total weight 542.5 kg lifted and got the 3rd place at the deadlift.

Edgars Ratnieks says, “This competition was my aim which I am going to for several years. By acquiring such high results I have complied with the rules of International sports master. The competition was of a very high level and I am happy that I could take part at it, test my forces, get acquainted with sportsmen from other European countries. This championship has motivated me for the future and I am planning to recover my strength and health in order to prepare for the World championship, which will happen in November.

I want to thank Roman Vdovychenko, the Chairman of the Board of “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA for the permanent moral and material support. I hope to participate in competitions under the name of our company as well.”

The open championship in a power triathlon took place in Dobele on 9th December, 2017.

Edgars Ratnieks became an absolute champion in the weight category 110 kg and beat 3 Latvian records:

• Bench press – 216 kg,
• Deadlift – 323,5 kg,
• Total weight – 799,5 kg.

We are sincerely happy for the wins and sporting success of our colleague and the Latvian records man. We will have our thumbs up for Edgars in future!

In the honour of the 99th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia, an open power double-event championship took place on 18th November, 2017, for the first time in the history of the country.

Not only sportsmen from Latvia but also representatives from Lithuania and Estonia participated in the competition.

In the lifters’ weight category above 100 kg our colleague Edgars Ratnieks hewed the 4th place in the total evaluation and set up a Latvian record in the deadlift – 310 kg.

Keeping on the tradition of participating at and supporting sports events, the companies “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA became the sponsors of the 10th anniversary tournament of indoor football “STRONG CUP” that took place in Riga Olympic centre on 30th September, 2017. Beside representatives of Latvian business, teams from Belarus, Russia, Estonia and Lithuania participated as well.

The team of Riga Chamber of Industry and Commerce (RCIC), which was led by the captain Roman Vdovychenko won the 3rd place among 8 teams in Business league and was rewarded by the bronze medal.

Like before, the main organizer of the tournament (RFF) was the security company “STRONG” in cooperation with Riga Football federation. We want to express our gratitude to the director of the company Sergey Schegolev for the great organizational work done.

We also want to thank the RCIC team for the common game and congratulate with the 3rd place on a pedestal!

A new season of the indoor football 2017 was opened on the 22nd September in the Olympic centre “ELEKTRUM” in Riga with the match of Latvian Super Cup 2017 of indoor football.

Starting with this season “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA is a sponsor of a perspective indoor football team from Rezekne – “TFK REZEKNE” (http://www.rezekne-tfk.lv).

In the beginning of May the 2nd open Belarusian Powerlifting Federation Championship took place in Grodno, Belarus.

In a fierce battle Edgars Ratnieks, the operator of the cogeneration station “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA won the 2nd place in a discipline bench press and set up his personal record – 210 kilos thus running rules of the master of sports.

In June Edgars participated in Latvian Chapionship of bench press in Daugavpils and took the 1st place on a pedestal in a weight category 105 kilos.

The guest of honour was the winner of „Rolland-Garros 2017” Alona Ostapenko, who rewarded the champions and medallists.

“Come and row!”– This was a motto of the 14th rowing festival at Riga channel, which was organized by the sports club “Klementjevs Brothers” („Brāļi Klementjevi”). Hundreds of people gathered at the National Opera to try themselves at the difficult and unusual competition.

The competition was at 150 and 200 meters distances for bidarkees, canoes and 12-places-boats Voyager. Several dozen of teams participated at the competition. The team of Riga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which was joined by the Chairman of the Board Roman Vdovychenko and the Deputy Chairman of the Board Orest Benko, was among the best five teams!

Active participation at similar sport events leads to investments in sports and healthy lifestyle!

Within the city festival of Rezekne, a march of companies, unions, institutions and collectives, which has already become a tradition, took place on 5th August, 2017 in Rezekne. The theme of the march this year was “Movie Mystery”. Companies”NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA also participated at the beautiful event for the first time. On the 1st of April, 2017, a tournament of indoor football “STRONG CUP” was held at Riga Olympic centre. The main organizer of the tournament was the security company “STRONG” in cooperation with Riga Football federation (RFF). Teams presenting the Latvian business as well as guests from Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia and Belarus participated in the tournament.

“Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA was the sponsor of the team of Riga Chamber of Industry and Commerce (RCIC) this year, and the Chairman of the Management Board Roman Vdovychenko led the mentioned team of Riga Chamber of Industry and Commerce (RCIC), which took the 6th place in competition of 10 teams in the Business league.

The results of participation: four draw games, three victories and two losses; this is a good indicator for the first competition of the team.

At the end of October in Minsk the first Cup of Belarusian Powerlifting Federation without equipment was held. In a fierce competition athlete Edgars Ratnieks managed to get on the podium, gaining the 2nd place with the result a total of 782 kg. 161 athletes took part (14 women and 147 men) in the competition of powerlifting representing Belarus, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Venezuela. We are especially happy for this event because Edgars is our colleague – he is an operator of the combined heat and power station of “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA. In this competition Edgars participated with the financial support from his company and he is very grateful to the Chairman of the Board Mr. Roman Vdovychenko who encouraged him both morally and financially. Edgars Ratnieks is a master of powerlifting sports since 2010 and he is a successive Latvian champion and record holder. His best results exceed 800 kg. Keep it up!
